UK Cuba Solidarity Campaign members visit the Miramar Theatre in Playa.

Havana, 4 March 2024- Led by Mr. Rob Miller, Director of the Cuba Solidarity Campaign and Executive Director of the British foundation Music Funds for Cuba, the visitors, mostly trade unionists, will be able to see in the theatre part of the donation recently made by these and other British organisations to various Cuban institutions and civil society, including the theatre itself, the schools of arts, the Ministries of Culture and Education and the Union of Education Workers.

The Miramar Theatre is the flagship work of the Music Funds for Cuba Foundation, a UK charity that works with the Ministry of Culture to distribute materials to children and young people for music and performing arts education. It was established in memory of Kirsty MacColl in January 2001. The organisation supported with its funds the renovation of the theatre, for the use of young musicians and performers and will bring the arts to the community.

On the evening of Monday 4 March, visitors will interact with theatre staff and management, as well as students from the National School of Music, who will give an artistic performance using instruments donated to the theatre and arts schools.
