UK trade unionists donate school supplies to Cuba.

A donation of 240 computers, school materials, backpacks, implements and sports equipment, the result of the solidarity of trade unionists from the United Kingdom, is currently beginning its distribution in several Cuban provinces with the support of the National Union of Education, Science and Sport Workers (SNTECD).

According to Niurka María González Orberá, secretary general of the SNTECD, the funds were collected with the leadership of the National Education Union (NEU) and the Cuba Solidarity Campaign (CSC), as well as other unions in that European nation.

‘The NEU's solidarity has been a powerful and historical pillar for more than 30 years,’ said the leader, who also pointed out that “the donation responds to a campaign developed in the United Kingdom in conjunction with our union and which is called Viva la Educación” (Long Live Education).

The resources sent to support the educational teaching process are already being distributed in several primary schools in the provinces of Havana, Villa Clara, Granma, as well as Santiago de Cuba. They will soon reach Mayabeque, Artemisa and Matanzas.

NEU's special collaboration with Cuba has been shown on many other occasions through the provision of teaching aids, including the presence of British teachers.
