United Nations General Assembly approves resolution against blockade by absolute majority

Another victory for Cuba at the United Nations for the elimination of the unjust blockade


The resolution "Necessity of ending the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba" was supported by 165 countries; 7 voted against and 12 abstained.

A total of 165 countries rejected the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States government on Cuba this Wednesday, while seven voted against and 12 nations abstained during the second day of the United Nations General Assembly.

At the beginning of his remarks, Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla expressed solidarity with the people of Jamaica, Haiti, and the Dominican Republic for the loss of life caused by Hurricane Melissa.
