Unveiling of facsimile of the original document on the establishing of relations between Cuba and Australia

Canberra, November 22, 2024. As a closing activity of the Annual Programme developed by the Embassy of Cuba to commemorate the 35th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations between Cuba and Australia, a facsimile of the original document of the Agreement was unveiled today.

The activity took place at the Cuban Embassy in Canberra and was attended by Foreign Ministry officials, members of the accredited diplomatic corps and members of the Cuba solidarity movement.

The ceremony was addressed by the Director General of the National Archives of Australia, Simon Froude, and the Cuban Ambassador, Tanieris Diéguez.

The occasion was an opportunity to address the wide range of opportunities to strengthen bilateral ties between the two countries and to reaffirm the willingness to continue working in areas of common interest.

It was an emotional and interesting event, where those present had the opportunity to appreciate the historic document.

The Cuban Ambassador expressed that the event also constituted a tribute to members of the revolutionary diplomacy who are no longer with us, but who always be part of Cuban diplomatic history such as Ambassador José Fernández de Cossío Rodríguez, recently deceased, who was one of the signatories of the historic document.
