Update on Tourism Operations: Cuba Fully Operational
The Cuba Tourist Office is pleased to confirm that tourist accommodation and services across the destination remain fully operational. The sector is prepared to welcome visitors with the distinct warmth and service excellence for which Cuba is known.
While Cuba has faced a complex situation in recent years stemming from the tightening of the blockade imposed by the United States, the tourism sector—the country's primary source of foreign exchange—has successfully ring-fenced its operations. Specific measures have been implemented to mitigate economic impacts and prioritise the visitor experience.
As part of this strategy, hotel operations have been optimised to ensure the provision of excellent service. The hotel infrastructure is energy self-sufficient, supported by independent power systems and backup generators, which minimise the risk of potential disruption. Similarly, private businesses, such as rental homes, have adopted measures to ensure service continuity.
Furthermore, the supply of food and provisions for the season is guaranteed, following the approval of new import companies and robust commercial partnerships involving wholesalers and small-to-medium-sized private enterprises.
Fuel supplies are secured for airport transfers and tours. Additionally, new and attractive excursions have been designed to optimise transport logistics. Regarding connectivity, international airlines are maintaining operations, with some carriers adopting resilient logistical routes—including refuelling in third-party Caribbean nations—to ensure consistent schedules.
Creativity and resilience define life in Cuba today. Despite current challenges, the friendliness of the Cuban people remains unchanged.
Cuba continues to be a sustainable destination, rich in culture, history, beautiful beaches, and excellent weather. Tourism here not only drives the economy but also makes a vital contribution to the lives of the people and their communities.
