A demand for the exclusion of Cuba from the unilateral list of "state sponsors of terrorism", in which the White House spuriously and irrationally includes the island, was formulated in a letter to President Joe Biden by U.S. lawyers, who argued its lack of justification.
According to a report by Prensa Latina (PL) news agency, the letter reinforces the claims of another letter sent to the president by 18 former governors, as well as petitions signed by thousands of citizens, seeking the end of the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the White House against Havana, and the cessation of coercive measures.
In the text sent to the U.S. president, the 160 professional signatories highlight their concern for the continued presence of the Caribbean country on this list, despite the absence of legal or moral arguments, as well as the rejection of international leaders and U.S. civil society organizations.
The legal professionals insist that almost half of Biden's term in office has elapsed and there has been no external gesture or recognition that Cuba's inclusion on this list was deserved.
The inclusion of the largest of the Antilles in this arbitrary list (carried out in the last days of the Trump administration) reinforces the deterrent and intimidating impact of the blockade, as well as the difficulties of the country to insert itself in international trade and carry out financial operations, the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs indicated.
