The U.S. Government removed Cuba this Tuesday from the spurious list of States that according to them sponsor terrorism, a measure that had been maintained by Washington since January 12, 2021, when it was signed by then President Donald Trump.
The decision revokes President Trump's approved national security memorandum of July 2017 and orders the secretary of the treasury to initiate a process of adjustment to this decision.
In doing so, the outgoing president also suspended the ability of U.S. citizens to sue in U.S. courts for the nationalization of their property in Cuba under Title III of the Helms-Burton Act and lifted some financial sanctions enacted by the previous administration.
