Vietnam will enter the Cuban tourism sector next year

Everything is quite advanced for Vietnam to enter the Cuban tourism sector at some point in 2023, Ambassador Orlando Hernández Guillén announced on Tuesday.

In principle, Vietnamese companies will assume the repair of two hotels and the construction of another in Havana, the head of the Cuban state mission in the Asian country pointed out in an interview with Prensa Latina.

When taking stock of 2022 regarding bilateral economic-commercial relations, Hernández Guillén pointed out that even when the figures do not show growth in mercantile exchange, there are other important aspects that allow us to predict a new upturn in that order.

"We have reasons to feel optimistic about the fact that next year there will be consolidation and development in the economic sphere, and that new sectors will make it possible to promote the presence of Vietnamese investments in Cuba," he commented.

The diplomat confirmed that the first investment in the agricultural sector has already been obtained, for the construction of a cattle feed plant, and that a visit to the Antillean nation by an important delegation in this field with interests in the food production and processing.

A detergent factory is currently being completed and work is being done on expanding the napkin and diaper factory, as well as on the photovoltaic generation plant, which is small but precedes other larger ones that are being negotiated, both for the Special Development of Mariel like other places, said the Cuban ambassador.

He highlighted the very important role developed by Vietnam in Cuba's food security and affirmed that rice will continue to be the fundamental item in the commercial relationship.

Already with progress in some areas, in 2023 negotiations should be resumed so that, together with the recovery process of the Cuban economy, there is an increase in the Vietnamese presence in our market, he said.

He also ratified the confidence that in the near future Cuba's medical services in Vietnam can be expanded, and exports of biotechnology products and other items such as rum, seafood and tobacco materialize.

Cooperation should also be deepened in the field of food security, with some projects aimed at corn production and aquaculture.

Hernández Guillén also made reference to the importance of the recent holding, via videoconference, of the XL Session of the Intergovernmental Commission for economic and scientific-technical collaboration, in which the priorities of commercial exchange and the actions to be developed next were defined. year.
