Pretoria, March 5, 2019.- The vice president of ARTEX, Migdalia Torres Valdivia and the official of the Ministry of Culture of Cuba, Yanicia Garzón Kindelán, visited in the Soweto neighborhood of the South African city of Johannesburg, the project founded by the former dancer Dirk Banderhost, which trains children and Young South Africans from the Cuban methodology for teaching ballet.
During the visit, Cuban representatives exchanged with Dirk Banderhost on issues related to the project, including the upcoming graduation of the first students.
The officials also witnessed one of the classes given to children by South African teachers trained by Cuban ballet teachers Maria de los Angeles Torguet and Irene Villalón Torguet, with whom this joint project is developed since 2015, as part of a Cooperation agreement with the Ministry of Culture of Cuba.
Hundreds of South African children and young people from the most vulnerable communities and their teachers benefit from this beautiful project, the result of cooperation between Cuba and South Africa.
