“We Condemn Everything that Divides Humanity and Unbalances the World”: Statement by the Martiano Program

Statement by the entities of the National Program for the Study and Promotion of Martiano Thought

Convinced that there are no threats capable of intimidating the people of Abdala—a symbol of the utmost sacrifice that a profoundly Martiano people will always be willing to make; confident that “no prow can cut through a cloud of ideas,” and that moral weapons are those that save peoples and define what it means to be human; mindful of our history and proud of our mambí, guerrilla, and humanist heritage:

We condemn everything that divides humanity, unbalances the world, and perpetuates injustice across the face of the Earth.

We reaffirm our commitment to study, work, struggle, and prevail in the eternal conflict between imperial selfishness and the human being’s vocation for solidarity, for spiritual elevation, prosperity, and the balance of the world, as taught to us by José Martí, his finest teachers, and his most brilliant disciples.

We salute the gestures of sister peoples around the world who have historically offered their support in keeping with the Martiano spirit, and who today, in favor of dialogue, cooperation, and the pursuit of peace, stand alongside the Cuban people and close ranks so that the “giant with seven-league boots” does not pass.

And with confidence in victory, and in the historical responsibility of the “new pines” of the present century, we embrace as our own the response of Abdala, the youthful leader of a country threatened by its worst enemy—a response that knows no geographic, generational, or temporal limits:

Tell the people that with them, to the field,
When ordered, I shall set out;
And tell the tyrant to prepare himself,—
To ready his men,—and to his lances
Give shine and splendor. More brightly shine
Our strong and valiant souls!
A thousand times happy, oh brave young man,
The people that is your homeland!
—Long live Abdala!—
