Pretoria, January 24, 2025.- Donald Trump's decision, just a few hours after taking office again as President of the United States, to include Cuba one more time in the arbitrary list of countries that are allegedly sponsors of terrorism, which is not recognised by any international authority, has been widely condemned by the world.
The governments of several nations, such as China, Russia and Venezuela, condemned the action, which they deemed to be unwarranted. Likewise, Political parties have rejected the announcement, such as the South African Communist Party, which issued a strong condemnation of Trump's decision and reaffirmed its unwavering support for Cuba and its people in the fight against the blockade. Solidarity movements around the world, regional bodies and associations of Cuban residents have openly expressed their rejection of the measure.
No one is surprised by the stance of the Republican who in his first term, from 2017 to 2021, applied a cruel policy of maximum pressure against the Cuban people. With more than 240 measures, Trump strengthened the inhuman blockade against Cuba, in an unsuccessful-attempt to suffocate the country economically, subvert the order and overthrow the revolution.
Long is the list of actions against the Caribbean nation carried out by Trump, which now with the reinsertion on the list of countries allegedly sponsoring terrorism, once again demonstrates, as the Cuban Foreign Ministry stressed, the aggressiveness of US imperialism against sovereignty, peace and the well-being of our people.
