Pretoria, April 15, 2019.- The XIII Biennial of Havana was officially inaugurated on Friday morning, an event sponsored by the National Council of Plastic Arts and the Wifredo Lam Contemporary Art Center.
Under the general theme "the Construction of the Possible" the present edition of the Biennial was presented by its organizers as a space for those typologies of contemporary art that understand creation as a "living event".
More than 30 galleries and cultural centers will host until May 12 the works of more than 200 creators from 45 countries in what constitutes the greatest event of the visual arts in Cuba. The event also includes more than 200 collateral projects open to the public in eleven municipalities of the Cuban capital in the year of its 500th anniversary.
In this edition for the first time other provinces are included such as Matanzas, Cienfuegos, Sancti Spíritus and Camagüey; which will turn the island into a large open-air gallery, in which art comes to meet the spectator.
