Young Communist League against Trump's measure on Cuba

Pretoria, 27 January 2025 - The Young Communist League of South Africa (YCLSA) has issued a statement with its reflections on the measures announced by the United States President Donald Trump within hours of being sworn into the White House.

A section of the statement was dedicated to the decision of reinstating Cuba on the false and unilateral list of alleged countries sponsors of terrorism, reversing a measure taken by his predecessor, Joe Biden, only a week earlier.

The statement rightly argues that the list of state sponsors of terrorism is politically motivated and only serves to put more pressure on sovereign countries like Cuba, a solidary island that has on numerous occasions given its unconditional support to the peoples of the Global South.

With this communiqué, the youth organisation reaffirms its commitment and support to the Revolution and the Cuban people in the face of intensified imperialist aggression.
