Young people from the U.S. meet with Cuban Foreign Ministry authorities.

More than 150 young leaders of social movements and organizations from the United States who are visiting Cuba held a dialogue today with authorities of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Minrex) of the Caribbean island.

The Foreign Ministry detailed on Twitter that the deputy director for the United States of the Minrex, Johana Tablada, thanked the participants for their empathy and friendship that strengthen the hope of improving relations between the largest of the Antilles and the northern nation, compensating for the pain caused by the U.S. blockade.

"Your friendship is a gift for Cuba," the diplomat stressed.

Tablada told the young people about the history of U.S.-Cuban relations and the permanent and unceasing struggle of the people of the island for their sovereignty and dignity in the face of imperialist aggression.

This delegation, which has been in the Caribbean nation since April 24, will renew the historic ties of solidarity between the peoples of the two countries despite the aggressive foreign policy of U.S. President Joe Biden.

During their stay, which culminates in participation in International Workers' Day activities, the young people will exchange with trade unions, community activists, artists and youth groups on the island.

The objective is to forge people-to-people relations, which for more than 60 years has been facing the impact of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the U.S. government on the Antillean nation.
