Due to its strategic position, Cuba can facilitate BRICS access to important markets in LAC and establish key partnerships for the benefit of our countries

BRICS

For Cuba, it is an extraordinary honor to participate in this Meeting of Leaders of Member States in the expanded BRICS format, which is successfully taking place in the multicultural and hospitable city of Kazan. For more than 60 years, Cuba has had to face a fierce blockade imposed by successive US governments, which has also been intensified in an extreme, unprecedented and cruel manner since 2019, even during the COVID pandemic, and aggravated by the infamous and unfounded inclusion of our country in the spurious list of countries that supposedly sponsor terrorism, which has a very negative impact on the quality of life of all Cubans and causes severe humanitarian damage, shortages and suffering. The dignified, victorious and creative resistance of the Cuban people has received the encouragement and support of many of the countries gathered in this room, and the backing of the international community, a gesture that we deeply appreciate.

Israeli Aggression in the Middle East Must Stop

Declaración del MINREX

Cuba, while expressing its solidarity with the nations targeted by Israel, calls for peace and urges immediate negotiations toward a ceasefire to prevent a further escalation of a conflict that has already claimed tens of thousands of lives and severely worsened the humanitarian crisis to alarming levels in the region's populations. We reaffirm our commitment to justice and international law. We reiterate that peace in the Middle East can only be achieved through a comprehensive, lasting, and just solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, including the establishment of a sovereign and independent Palestinian state within the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. In addition, the full and immediate admission of Palestine as a member of the United Nations must be guaranteed without further delay.

Cuba will continue to defend its sovereign right to build socialism the way we Cubans have decided, without any foreign interference

UNGA

I dedicate these first words to ratify Cuba’s solidarity and support to the brotherly people of Palestine, victim of more than 75 years of colonial occupation, flagrant violations to their legitimate rights as a nation, submitted to cruelty, aggressions, collective punishments and apartheid. It is an unacceptable tragedy, plain for all to see; it’s a wound in human consciousness. During the last eleven months, the Israeli army has massacred more than 40 thousand civilians. That indiscriminate and disproportionate massacre has killed more boys and girls than men and women.  They die with the complicity and  the weapons contributed by the United States, with the complicit silence of others.  We pay tribute to the more than 220 aid workers of this Organization who have also been killed.

Cuba extends tariff benefits for imports of non-commercial products

Aduana

Cuba extended until January 31, 2025 the non-commercial import of food, toiletries, medicines and medical supplies, as accompanied baggage and exempt from paying customs tax. According to Resolution 311 of the Ministry of Finance and Prices, published in the 45th (extraordinary) edition of the Official Gazette, the decision will be made on an exceptional basis. The increase in the limit of the customs value for non-commercial imports made by natural persons through shipments, up to 500 USD, is also maintained. The exemption from payment of customs tax for the first 30 dollars of the value, or its equivalent weight of 3 kg of the shipment, also remains, and only the excess of the tariff rate of 30% will be applied.
