SOCIALIST Party president Fred M’membe says health is a human right and every Zambian should have the information and services they need to take care of their own health and that of their families. He regrets that great majority of Zambians, especially those in rural areas, do not receive the health services they need. Dr M’membe said many Zambians were pushed into extreme poverty each year because “of out-of-pocket spending on health.”

In greeting you with affection, I take the liberty of addressing you on the occasion of denouncing the severe events taking place against the peace and stability of Venezuela, at a time when the concern of the States and Governments should be focused on the protection of the life and health of their citizens, due to the acceleration of the COVID-19 pandemic. As it is publicly known, last March 26, the government of the United States announced a very serious action against a group of high officials of the Venezuelan state, including the Constitutional President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro.
Lusaka Times, 2 April 2020. Health Minister Dr. Chitalu Chilufya has disclosed that Zambia has not recorded a new COVID-19 case in the last 24 hours. Meanwhile, President Edgar Chagwa Lungu authorises government to recruit 3,400 health workers to curb spread of Covid-19 in Zambia.
During the twelfth COVID-19 update Wednesday afternoon Dr Chilufya said no new case has been recorded out of the 99 individuals that underwent testing and the number of confirmed cases still stands at 36.
