Cuba extended until December 31, 2022 the non-commercial import of food, hygiene good and medicines, as accompanied luggage by passengers and exempted from payment of custom tariffs

Havana, May 14 (Prensa Latina) Cuba has once again extended the non-commercial import of foodstuffs, personal and household products and medicines by passengers as accompanying luggage and free of customs duties.

According to a press release from the General Customs of the Republic (AGR, in Spanish) published this Saturday, the measure will be extended temporarily until December 31 of this year, with no limits on value and quantities.

The President of the Republic of Cuba decrees official mourning on 13th and 14th May

On the occasion of the deep pain of our people in the face of the unfortunate accident that occurred at the Saratoga Hotel on May 6, in which 44 compatriots and one Spanish citizen have lost their lives to date, and after the rescue actions were completed, the President of the Republic of Cuba agreed to decree an OFFICIAL MOURNING from 06:00 on May 13 until 12:00 at night on May 14.

During the validity of the OFFICIAL MOURNING, the Lone Star Flag must be hoisted at half-mast in public buildings and military institutions.

After finding on the afternoon of Thursday, May 12, the lifeless body of the last missing person as a result of the fateful accident at the Saratoga hotel in Havana, after 6 days of incessant and risky rescue and salvage work, since Friday, May 6, the day the explosion occurred, there are now 45 deaths as a result of the unfortunate event.
