The Cuban delegation to the 57th Directing Council of the Pan-American Health Organization (PAHO), led by Minister of Health José Ángel Portal will not be able to attend this event due to visa restrictions imposed by the government of the United States. PAHO Directing Council is the most important meeting held by health organizations of the entire region.
Declaration of the Revolutionary Government
The Revolutionary Government of the Republic of Cuba condemns in the strongest terms the measures announced by the United States Government on 4 June 2019, further tightening the economic blockade imposed on Cuba for over 60 years, at a cost for the Cuban economy which amounted to over 134 billion dollars in 2018 at current prices, and to the figure of 933 billion dollars, taking into account the devaluation of the US dollar vis-à-vis the price of gold in the world market.
Cuban Americans for Engagement (CAFE), through its Facebook and Twitter social network accounts, published an open letter this Monday, addressed to the Secretary of State, Michael R. Pompeo, and other officials of the Department of State, in which it expresses deep concern regarding the new measures imposed by the Trump Administration against Cuba, announced on April 17.
In response to Trump Administration's announcements of additional sanctions on Cuba, the organization Cuban Americans for Engagement (CAFE), an emigration group in the US, condemned the new aggressive measures of United States against Cuba, announced yesterday in Miami by National Security Advisor, John Bolton.
"Cuban Americans for Engagement condemns the implementation of these regulations aimed at causing more hardship to the Cuban family," said the organization in a note.
