At the headquarters of the National Assembly of Zimbabwe, the Ambassador of Cuba, Carmelina Ramirez, was received by the Chairperson of the International Relations and Foreign Trade Committee, Honourable Webster K. Shamu, in the company of other parliamentarians, Honourable Joshua Sacco, head of the Foreign Trade Committee and Honourable Lindiwe Maphosa, Committee on Education, Science and Technological Development.
The Zimbabwean legislator evaluated positively the state of relations between the parliaments of Cuba and Zimbabwe. There is a historical relationship between both countries that is manifested in the number of professionals graduated in Cuba and the medical collaboration. It is important to continue cultivating, strengthening those relationships. We have had to pay a high price to protect their sovereignty and independence. Webster K. Shamu, expressed that the US blockade against Cuba is unjust, and causes a lot of damage to the Cuban people. But Cuba and the Cubans have set an example of resistance and dignity. It is incredible how such a small island has managed to defy and survive economic sanctions, develop and at the same time provide solidarity to other peoples.
