Cuba, world’s third country with one Covid-19 vaccine dose

Cuba reports 10,581,126 people with at least one dose of a Covid-19 vaccine, a figure that places the country in the third place among the world in this indicator.

The updated figures from Oxford University’s statistics website, Our World in Data, show that only the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Portugal are ahead of Cuba, which is followed by Brazil, the United States, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Bangladesh and Russia, in the top 10.

Cuba has fully vaccinated 87.7 percent of population against Covid-19

According to the MINSAP report, 10,554,915 Cubans have received at least one shot of the homegrown Soberana 02, Soberana Plus and Abdala vaccines, including convalescent patients, who have been administered a single dose of Soberana Plus.

The second dose has been administered to 9,339,080 people, and 9,005,554 have received the third shot.

Some 4,876,009 people, over 40 percent of the population, have received the booster shot.

Cuba updates sanitary protocol in view of Omicron´s advance

Havana, January 12

Updating of preventive medication management, therapeutic treatment and admission protocols, was announced today in Cuba in view of the advance of the Omicron variant of the Sars-Cov-2, the cause of Covid-19.

According to a local television report, in a regular meeting of the government´s working group for the treatment and control of the disease, the increase in the number of positive cases was analyzed, amounting to 10, 934 only in the first week of January.
