We would like to express our deepest satisfaction for the holding of the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development under the auspices of ECOSOC, which undoubtedly has a great significance this year in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. We are convinced that the Forum will make a significant contribution to the search for more just, equitable and inclusive global solutions, for the sustainable development of our peoples and in the fight against the current pandemic.

The international community took a significant step forward with the adoption of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, with Science, Technology and Innovation playing an essential role in its implementation.

Mr. Chairman,

Allow me to take this opportunity to express my gratitude on behalf of my country for the convening of this High-Level Event on Climate Change and Sustainable Development.

Climate change is an obvious global threat that calls for urgent, fair and balanced solutions involving all countries in the world, in particular the Small Island Developing States, in a real and effective way.
