Guyana celebrates the Liberation Day of Africa

Georgetown, May 28, 2019. The Ambassador of Cuba, Narciso Reinaldo Amador Socorro and the official, Mayra Caridad León Pérez, participated in the ceremony for the Day of the Liberation of Africa, invited by the Organization for the Victory of the People (OVP) , Which also dedicated the commemoration to the revolution of Cuba and Venezuela.

This event was chaired by Mr. Gerald Perreira, President of the Organization for the Victory of the People, and Mr. Lincoln Lewis, General Secretary of the Congress of Trade Unions of Guyana (GTUC). Both personalities and those attending the event highlighted the history of the struggle of the peoples of Africa for their liberation and called for solidarity with the Cuban and Venezuelan revolution.

STATEMENT ON THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF NEW MEASURES BY THE US GOVERNMENT AGAINST CUBA

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) is concerned by the new measures under Title III of the Helms-Burton Act announced by the Government of the United States of America which would strengthen the US economic, commercial and financial embargo against Cuba. The Community denounces the application of laws and measures of an extra-territorial nature that are contrary to international law.

The Embassy of Cuba to the Cooperative Republic of Guyana commemorates the 134th Anniversary of the death in combat of José Martí

Georgetown, May 17, 2019. "Politician, writer, journalist, philosopher, and poet, with deep thought of the realities of his time, the foresight of the future, defender of justice, solidarity and the emancipation of peoples."

With these words, José Martí was remembered, at the Cuban Embassy in Guyana, on the occasion of the 134th anniversary of his death in combat.

Minister of Health of Guyana acknowledges the work of Cuban collaborators

Georgetown, April 29, 2019. The Minister of Public Health of Guyana, Honorable Volda Lawrence, handed over diplomas of recognition to 14 collaborators who completed their three-year solidarity work in the Cooperative Republic of Guyana. The Minister highlighted the importance for her country of the Cubaan medical collaboration.

The Cuban Ambassador, Narciso Reinaldo Amador Socorro and the Chief of the Medical Brigade, Dra. Tatiana García Téllez, congratulated and wished the collaborators a happy return to the homeland and expressed the willingness of the Cuban authorities to continue cooperating with the Government and the people of Guyana in the field of public health.

Cuba denounces new US restrictions – GCSM President

Georgetown. April 18, 2019. The Guyana Cuba Solidarity Movement (GCSM) has denounced actions by the United States of America to reinstate limits on remittances that Cuban residents in the U.S. send to their families and friends while restricting travel.

President of the GCSM Halim Khan said that the US recently further restricted travel by U.S. citizens to Cuba, and imposed additional financial sanctions.

“The Revolutionary Government rejects, in the strongest terms possible, the decision to now allow action to be taken in U.S. courts against Cuban and foreign entities, and to aggravate impediments to entering the US faced by leaders and families of companies that legitimately invest in Cuba, in properties that were nationalized,” Khan said.

Further, Khan said that the US have the cynicism to blame Cuba for the economic and social situation Venezuela is facing after years of brutal economic sanctions, conceived and implemented by the United States and their allies .
