Irish solidarity is being very active in the confrontation with the economic blockade against Cuba.
During the recently concluded month of July and the beginning of August, Irish solidarity with Cuba has deployed numerous activities to denounce the resurgence of the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States government against Cuba and the implementation of the Helms Burton Act.

The Anti-imperialist Meeting of Solidarity, for Democracy and against Neoliberalism will take place in Havana from November 1 to 3 of this year, organized by the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), Central Organization of Cuban Trade Unions (CTC), along with the Cuban Chapter of Social Movements and the Continental Conference for Democracy and against Neoliberalism.

Recently held was a government meeting to review progress in tourism, one of six strategic sectors identified in the country’s Development Plan. Basic issues analyzed included current investment projects, the development of productive chains with other industries, and substitution of imported supplies with domestic products.
