Cuba and Belize strengthen cooperation ties

The First Secretary of the Party and President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, received the Prime Minister of Belize, John Antonio Briceño, with whom he held official talks at the Palace of the Revolution.

Both leaders witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Science, Technology and Environment of Cuba and the Ministry for Sustainable Development, Climate Change and Disaster Risk Management of Belize, signed by the ministers of the two nations , Elba Rosa Pérez Montoya and Eamon Courtenay, respectively.

In addition, a cooperation agreement was signed between the Cuban Ministry of Public Health and its Belizean counterpart, by the respective holders of those portfolios.

Briceño recalled the help provided by Cuba to obtain sovereignty in the training of professionals and in the health sector, with medical cooperation since 1990, with the participation of more than a thousand collaborators.

There are currently 122 health workers and other sports technicians working there.

The dignitary paid tribute to José Martí, with a floral offering at the monument in the Plaza de la Revolución.
