Mayor of Glasgow sends message of support to Cuba after Hurricane Ian

London, September 29, 2022 (Prensa Latina) The Lord Provost of the Scottish city of Glasgow, Jacqueline McLaren, sent a message of solidarity to the people of Cuba after Hurricane Ian hit the Caribbean island last Tuesday, it was reported here today.

The Cuban embassy in the United Kingdom published on Thursday on its Twitter account the text sent by McLaren on behalf of all the inhabitants of the city, which has been twinned with Havana since 2002.

As a sister city of Havana, and on behalf of the people of Glasgow, I send a message of support to all in Cuba, and reflect on the suffering caused by Hurricane Ian, the mayor wrote.

The weather phenomenon hit the western region of the Caribbean island last Tuesday with winds of up to 200 kilometres per hour, leaving at least two dead and material damage still to be quantified.
