Ambassador of Cuba to South Africa concludes visit to North West

Mahikeng, October 8, 2022.- The Ambassador of Cuba to South Africa, Enrique Orta González, made a comprehensive visit to the province of North West, where he fulfilled an extensive program of activities. The program included meetings with officials and directors of the provincial government, as well as the main political forces of the territory.

The Ambassador held a fruitful exchange with the province Premier, Bushy Kaobitsa Maape, in which members of the Provincial Executive Committee and the leadership of the South African Communist Party (SACP) also participated.

As part of the program, the Ambassador participated in a conference about Che Guevara, on the occasion of the 55th anniversary of his physical disappearance. In his intervention, the head of the Cuban mission highlighted the importance of Che's legacy, his internationalist vocation and his firm condemnation of imperialism. He assured that we must fight to keep the example of Che alive and that the new generations must go beyond the superficiality of his figure and truly know the man, the revolutionary behind the myth.

The Ambassador also met with members of the Friends of Cuba Society in the province, who expressed their unconditional support and solidarity to the island.
