Cuban President urges to work with passion in 2023

Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel urged today to work with passion and enthusiasm in 2023, a few days before commemorating the 64th anniversary of the Revolution.

In his Twitter account, the president referred to his speech at the last session of the year of the Council of Ministers, where he called for joining efforts to reverse the difficult economic situation the Caribbean nation is going through, despite the obstacles caused by the intensification of the blockade imposed by the United States.

"The day-to-day life of Cubans in 2022 has been very hard, and it is the day-to-day life of a third year already, because we are living a complex situation since the second half of 2019," said the head of state in the main governing body of the Caribbean archipelago.

Díaz-Canel addressed the main concerns of the citizenry, in particular the take-off of the socialist state enterprise, the elimination of obstacles and prohibitions that hinder development and provide better care for people in vulnerable situations.

He indicated that there must be an effective fight against crime, corruption and illegalities, as well as the laws must be respected and the issues approved by the National Assembly of People's Power must be followed up.

According to the Presidency of the Republic on its website, the dignitary urged to take into account the consensus and participation of the people in decision making, to make use of science and innovation in solving problems and to carry out a democratic exercise of the people's power.

He explained that it is up to the Communist Party of Cuba "to act with awareness of the need that exists and to be the most efficient catalyst in our transformation".

As priority tasks for the coming year, the governor highlighted food production, following up on the commitments of recent international tours, the macroeconomic stabilization program, the modernization of the banking system, the collection of remittances and the increase of tourism.
