Havana, May 05, 2023 - The meeting of G77 and China Tourism Ministers was inaugurated this Friday at the Havana Convention Palace, with the presence of Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz. South Africa was represented by the deputy minister of the sector, Fish Mahlalela.
In a keynote speech, Marrero Cruz, who was head of tourism in Cuba for 16 years, discussed the development of the sector since the early days of the Revolution and the priority given to it by the government as the locomotive of the economy.
The G-77 + China Tourism Ministers' meeting is being held under the theme "Tourism as a driving force for economic, inclusive and sustainable development for the countries of the South".
The Cuban president, Miguel Díaz-Canel participated in the closure of this important event, which provided an opportunity to discuss current challenges in tourism and its linkages with heritage preservation and sustainable development.
