Brigades and solidarity groups will visit Cuba this summer.

The president of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), Fernando Gonzalez, announced Wednesday the visit of several solidarity groups to the island during the summer.

Gonzalez announced at a press conference that the XXXII Juan Rius Rivera Brigade from Puerto Rico; the XXVIII Latin American and Caribbean Brigade of volunteer work and solidarity with Cuba and the Caravan of Brazil will arrive in the Caribbean nation on July 13, 17 and 18, respectively, and will carry out activities in several provinces.

He specified that the Caravan of Pastors for Peace will also visit Cuba, headed by its executive director, Gail Walker, who was detained in recent days for trying to peacefully meet with U.S. Congressman Robert Menendez to discuss his cruel policies towards the island.

The ICAP president explained that the brigades will hold a Caribbean Meeting of Solidarity with the island in the eastern province of Santiago de Cuba, which will include workshops on anti-imperialist unity in the Caribbean against slavery, colonialism and neoliberal policies.

Other groups in solidarity with Cuba will also participate in this space and will discuss the need to work and articulate with the media in the fight against subversion.

During their stay on the island, the visitors will attend productive workshops, give lectures, hold meetings with the authorities of the territories and visit neighborhoods undergoing transformation.

On July 25, together with solidarity projects from the United States, they will lead a walk against the blockade and in support of just causes.

In the context of this activity, the Call for the IX Latin American and Caribbean Continental Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba and the first face-to-face meeting of the Network in 2025 will be launched.

Medals will also be awarded, a cultural gala will be held in honor of the 70th anniversary of the attack on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks and a tribute will be paid to the heroes of the Caribbean nation at the Santa Ifigenia cemetery.

The brigades, caravans and friends of the island will also participate in the central act for the National Rebellion Day.
