Limpopo, June 30, 2023 - The Chargé d'Affaires of the Cuban Embassy in South Africa, Bryan Betancourt Brito participated this Friday in the commemoration of the Battle of Mutale, which took place 35 years ago in the vicinity of the Mutale River, in the Limpopo province.
The event was chaired by the MEC for Sport, Arts and Culture of the province, Nakedi Kekana, who acknowledged the valuable contribution of Cuba in the training and preparation of the guerrillas of the Mkhonto We Sizwe (MK), the armed wing of the African National Congress (ANC). Members of the Veterans League, survivors of the bloody battle and other local authorities also participated.
The Chargé d'Affaires stressed in his speech that the battle of Mutale constitutes one of the many heroic battles MK fought against Apartheid forces during its history.
