Sandton, August 24, 2023 - Cuban President Miguel Díaz-Canel today held meetings and greeted several leaders attending the XV BRICS Summit in this city.
During a break in the sessions, the Cuban leader met with the president of the African Union and the Comoros - a country made up of three islands in southeast Africa - Azali Assoumani, the presidency reported on its Twitter account.
The two leaders discussed relations between both countries, also united by ties with Africa. Díaz-Canel reiterated his invitation to participate in the Summit of the G77 and China to be held in Havana next September.
Azali Assoumani, on his side, spoke of paying an official visit to the Caribbean nation.
The Cuban president also spoke with the president of the New Development Bank (NDB), Dilma Rousseff, about the possibility of carrying out joint projects.
Besides, he also exchanged with the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, to whom he thanked for the credits granted by his nation to develop renewable energies and rice cultivation on the island.
