The National Council of the Houses of Culture promotes the International Congress 'Comunidad 2023', which will be held from 14 to 16 October this year, at the at the Fidel Castro Ruz Center and in those community spaces that define new achievements in social transformation and local development, on the occasion of the 45th anniversary of the System of the Houses of Culture in Cuba and the 130th anniversary of the Houses of the People in Italy.
The efforts of institutions, in particular schools and cultural houses, cultural promoters, teachers, art instructors, researchers, popular educators, academics, artists, intellectuals and specialists, starting from a decolonial and emancipatory vision, confront the processes of cultural and technological globalisation that influence cultural consumption and participation today, taking them as challenges to be overcome.
These are the thematic axes on which the work and the search for alliances to achieve the Millennium Sustainable Development Goals will focus: public policies for human development in the 2030 Agenda; achieving equity and social inclusion for vulnerable individuals, groups and communities; introducing the gender approach within institutional and community practices; respecting cultural and sexual diversity; fostering a sense of belonging and identity in territories; protecting the environment, promoting a culture of peace and non-violence, the contribution of cultural industries and international cooperation in the theme of sustainability
In a multidisciplinary space, with dialogue and exchange as premises and counting on the support of the knowledge and efforts of institutions, organisations and civil society bodies, it is imperative to confront, plan and produce new knowledge by conceiving culture as a strategic axis for a development that places the human being at its centre
