Cuban residents in St. Kitts and Nevis hold a meeting at the Embassy of Cuba

Basseterre, January 29, 2024 - With the conviction that the Homeland is one and that wherever we are we will be part of it, several topics of great interest were debated this weekend in a meeting with a representation of the Cuban community residing in St. Kitts, Ambassador David Rivero and Ivón Tomé, Counselor in charge of consular affairs in this Federation.

Dr. Ladislao Taquechel, president of the association that brings together twenty fellow nationals, shared his experiences during the IV Conference on The Nation and Emigration, held in Havana in November 2023, in which he participated along with 370 other delegates, coming from 57 nations.

Cuban diplomats, for their part, emphasized the will and commitment of their government to continue strengthening ties with fellow citizens residing abroad, while insisting on the importance of greater participation of each of them in the processes of cultural and socio-economic development taking place in the country.

During the meeting, the Cuban residents present there had the opportunity to continue the debate opened during the IV Conference last November, and contribute substantial opinions and proposals in pursuit of more solid, diverse and permanent ties with their Homeland.

The event was also conducive to remembering José Martí on the 171st anniversary of his birth.
