The links between higher education and social transformation are the focus of interest of academics gathered today at the XIV International Congress on Higher Education, taking place in Havana, Cuba.
Precisely on this topic, a forum will take place this Tuesday at the Convention Palace, venue of the conclave, in charge of the executive director of the Latin American Council of Social Sciences, Karina Batthyány, the member of the steering committee of CLACSO, María Isabel Domínguez, authorities of the Cuban Ministry of Higher Education and organizers of the congress.
The various panels and round tables of the event will address issues related to the higher education of the future: social transformation, quality, relevance and sustainability; the systemic nature of education, as well as the pending challenges for equitable access to higher education with inclusion and without discrimination.
The academic secretary of Clacso, Pablo Vommaro, the director of the International Institute for Higher Education in Latin America and the Caribbean, Francesc Pedró, the coordinator of the Science and Technology and Innovation Axis of the Regional Conference on Higher Education, René Ramirez, among others, will participate in the forum.
On this day, academics will also discuss the contribution of higher education to the implementation and fulfillment of the Sustainable Development Goals.
The XIV International Congress on Higher Education will be held in this capital city until next Friday, with the participation of more than two thousand personalities and experts from 40 countries.
