Dublin, February 15, 2024. Under the principle that solidarity is the most powerful weapon that workers have, the renowned “Teachers Club of Dublin” circle was filled with colleagues from the Communist Party of Ireland and friends of the Revolution Cuba, who met with the purpose of raising funds to send medical aid to the Caribbean nation.

The funds raised will be used to purchase emergency medical supplies to support the Cuban medical system, a victim of the cruel and illegal North American blockade, which has lasted for more than six decades.

The event became a demonstration of support and solidarity and opposition to the blockade, as well as the unjustified inclusion of Cuba on the List of Countries Sponsoring Terrorism of the North American Department of State.

The Cuban ambassador, Bernardo Guanche Hernández, in his greeting message to the participants, pointed out that this activity highlights the high human values of the attendees, is an example of the noble feelings of the Irish people and is proof of their friendship towards Cuba.

He also commented that the Cuban Revolution made dreams of a free society come true, with the right to free education and health and the enjoyment, among others, of the constitutional right to religious practice. He added that achieving this has not been easy, just 90 miles from the most powerful empire that has ever existed and its sustained hostility.

The diplomat concluded by expressing his deep gratitude to the Communist Party of Ireland and all those who made this initiative possible in favour of the Cuban people.
