Ambassador-designate of Cuba to the United Kingdom presents Copies of her Credentials.

London, March 11, 2024- The Ambassador-designate of Cuba to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Ismara Mercedes Vargas Walter, presented this Monday the Copies of her Credentials  to the Assistant Marshal of the Diplomatic Corps and Deputy Director Protocol of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, Allison MacMillan.

The British diplomat officially welcomed the Head of the Cuban Mission and wished success in her post.  

The Ambassador-designate highlighted the historic ties between Cuba and the United Kingdom and expressed her willingness to contribute to the strengthening of political dialogue and cooperation in areas of mutual interest such as education, culture, biotechnology and the environment.

Both sides agreed on the importance of the Political Dialogue and Cooperation Agreement between Cuba and the UK, signed on 22 November in Havana, as a framework for developing bilateral dialogue and the exchange of official visits.

Cuba and the United Kingdom established diplomatic relations on 20 May 1902.
