The Member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organisation of the CC PCC, Roberto Morales Ojeda, signed, together with Stefanos Stefanou, Secretary General of the Central Committee of the Progressive Party of the Working People of Cyprus (AKEL), a Memorandum of Understanding and Inter-Party Cooperation.

On Tuesday afternoon, Roberto Morales Ojeda, member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organisation of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, received Stefanos Stefanou, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Progressive Party of the Working People of Cyprus (AKEL), who is on an official visit to our country.

During the meeting, both sides agreed on the good state of relations between the party organisations and expressed their willingness to continue working on strengthening these ties.

During the meeting, the leader of the Cypriot communists ratified his solidarity with Cuba and reiterated his condemnation of the intensified blockade and the inclusion of Cuba on the spurious list of state sponsors of terrorism.

The Cuban leader, for his part, expressed his gratitude for the visit of the Secretary General to Cuba, as well as for the firm solidarity with the Revolution, both of the AKEL Party and of Stefanos Stefanou on a personal level.

The exchange served as a stage for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation, which will expand and diversify relations between the two parties. The document includes actions in the area of political and cadre training; in the field of social and mass organisations; in the youth, trade union and women's sectors and other issues of mutual interest.

It will also promote exchanges on political, economic and social issues on the basis of the experiences of both parties and thus contribute to consolidating friendship, dialogue and mutual learning, strengthening political trust between the two parties.
