London, 26 May 2024- On Saturday morning, Ambassador Ismara M. Vargas Walter, gave an update to members of the Executive Committee of the Cuba Solidarity Campaign (CSC) on the situation in Cuba and the impact of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the US.
During the fruitful exchange, the Cuban diplomat thanked the trade unions, parliamentarians and individual members of the CSC for their long-standing support for the Cuban people. In particular, she highly valued the medical supplies sent to the island to face the Covid; the two containers of school supplies that arrived on the island last year and the current campaign to raise funds and send a container of medicines and medical supplies. He also recognised the work of the CSC in favour of Cuba's exclusion from the infamous and unilateral list of state sponsors of terrorism.
For his part, CSC President Kevin Courtney described Cuba's continued inclusion on the list as unjust, recognising the island's historic role in favour of peace, especially as a guarantor of the peace process in Colombia.
