Pretoria, 28 September 2024 - The Cuban Embassy in South Africa, together with members of the different cooperation brigades working in the country and local compatriots, celebrated the 64th anniversary of the Committees for the Defence of the Revolution (CDR) with a friendly softball game.
South African comrades who had studied in Cuba and representatives of the Cuban solidarity movement also participated.
The CDR was founded in 1960 with the essential mission of defending and preserving revolutionary ideals. However, carrying out this defence in 2024 is very different from what was envisaged in 1960. The evolution of society and changes in the political and social environment require adaptation and the search for new strategies to preserve what has been achieved, but the fundamental mission of the CDR remains the same: to defend the Revolution against any threat to our society.
The Cuban state mission in South Africa also participates in the defence of the Revolution, from the battle in the social media and with the contribution of the work of each individual, stated Dr. Roberto Granados, a member of the Cuban medical brigade in this country.
In a very Cuban atmosphere, with softball, dominoes, caldosa and the Van Van music, this important date was celebrated in South Africa.
