Meeting of the Cuban Ambassador with the leader of the Greek Evangelical Church in Cyprus

Nicosia, Cyprus - The Cuban Ambassador to the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Angel Gustavo Suárez Cordero, held a meeting at the diplomatic headquarters with the National Representative and pastor of the Greek Evangelical Church, Mr. Telis Tsinoglou, accompanied by his wife Olga Tsinoglou.

During the meeting, the Ambassador addressed several critical issues, highlighting religious freedom in Cuba. He presented the book ‘Fidel and Religion’ as a testimony of the Cuban government's thinking on this issue, underlining the peaceful coexistence of multiple religions on the island, including Catholics, Protestants, Muslims, Jews and practitioners of Afro-Cuban cults.

In addition, the diplomat elaborated on the severe consequences of the US economic blockade, which limits Cuba's access to basic resources and medicines. He also contextualised Cuba's inclusion on the spurious list of countries sponsoring terrorism, describing it as an unjust and politically motivated measure.

Father Telis Tsinloglou informed the Ambassador about the evangelical congregation in Cyprus and their activities. He invited the Ambassador to one of their events and pledged to look for ways to support the Cuban people (EmbaCuba Cyprus).
