Canberra, 14 April 2025. The UNJC Vice-Chair, an expert of the United Nations Committee on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women, was received this morning at the Australian Foreign Ministry by Dr. Dirk Platzen, Under-Secretary for Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion Branch. Assistant Secretary of the Gender Equality, Disability and Social Inclusion Branch.
During the meeting they exchanged on issues related to gender equality, women's rights, the rights of persons with disabilities, the rights of LGBTIQ+ persons and the challenges that exist in these matters.
The occasion was also an opportunity to exchange on the possibilities of cooperation on these issues and to report on the various legislative developments at both national and international level in this important area of human rights.
