Pretoria, 23 May 2025: The Cuban Embassy in South Africa participated in an exhibition organised by Saint Albans High School to celebrate the 62nd anniversary of Africa Liberation Day. Alongside other embassies accredited in Pretoria, students were shown the significance of this commemoration, and in Cuba's case, the strong relations that unite the island with the African continent.
Over 100 students visited the Cuban stand, where they learned about the longstanding friendship between Fidel Castro, the leader of the Cuban Revolution, and Nelson Mandela, the South African leader, as well as the historic ties between our peoples and governments. They also learned about Cuban geography, including its beaches, mountains and cities, as well as its humble and friendly people.
Naledi Pandor, the former Minister of International Relations and current Chair of the Nelson Mandela Foundation, participated in the event. She shared her wishes for Africa's prosperity and well-being with the students and exchanged views with members of the diplomatic corps present, worth highlighting her meeting with the Cuban Ambassador, Esther Armenteros.
