Havana, 11 July 2025.- President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez received Solly Mapaila, General Secretary of the South African Communist Party, at the Palace of the Revolution.
The Head of State highlighted the close ties that unite Cuba and South Africa, fostered by historical leaders Fidel and Mandela, in which, he noted, ‘inter-party relations are a strength.’ He spoke of the responsibility of new generations to continue expanding and fostering these relations. He referred to the need to systematise meetings between the two parties, collaborate in the training of cadres and support each other, he said.
Solly Mapaila expressed his gratitude for the welcome he received in Cuba and considered this to be a visit of solidarity with the Revolution, given the sacrifices made by this country for Africa and other peoples of the world. He particularly highlighted the resilience of the Cuban people.
An Exchange and Cooperation Agreement was then signed between the Communist Party of Cuba and the South African Communist Party. The document aims to strengthen and expand the historic relations of friendship, cooperation and solidarity between the two organisations.
