Cuba present at conference on nuclear non-proliferation 80 years after Hiroshima and Nagasaki

Pretoria, 6 August 2025. - Cuba's Chargé d'Affaires a.i. in South Africa, Ambassador Esther Armenteros, participated in the conference ‘The United Nations at 80: The Post-World War II Peace Architecture and the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty,’ organised by the Department of International Relations and Cooperation at the University of South Africa (UNISA).

Deputy Foreign Minister Alvin Botes delivered the keynote address, highlighting the importance of strengthening the global framework for nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation, while acknowledging the challenges facing the post-World War II peace architecture.

The event provided an opportunity for exchange between the ambassador and the Deputy Minister, who discussed the recently concluded consultative mechanism meeting between our countries.
