Commemorations begin in South Africa to mark the centennial of Fidel Castro's birth

Pretoria, 13 August 2025. Today marked the start of celebrations for the centennial of birth of the leader of the Cuban Revolution, Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz, with an emotional morning ceremony at our embassy in tribute to his figure and legacy.

Discussions focused on the relevance of his thinking, his example and patriotism, his brilliant leadership of the Revolution and Cuban foreign policy, his enduring example and his light, which today guide the Cuban people on their path to the socialism he helped us dream.
