Melbourne, 17 August 2025 – The Cuban Ambassador to Australia, Tanieris Diéguez La O, awarded the Medal of Friendship to Maree Dellora, president of the Melbourne branch of the Australia-Cuba Friendship Society (ACFS), in recognition of her more than 40 years of dedication to the solidarity movement with Cuba.
The presentation was an emotional tribute to Dellora's tireless work in promoting friendship between the peoples of Cuba and Australia.
The Medal of Friendship, conferred by the Council of State of the Republic of Cuba, is a prestigious award given to individuals who have made significant contributions to strengthening ties of cooperation and solidarity with Cuba.
Maree Dellora has played a key role in organizing ACFS activities, including solidarity brigades, fundraising for educational and health projects in Cuba, and campaigns against the economic blockade imposed on the island.
