Cuban Embassy in the US honors fallen fighters in Venezuela

The Embassy of Cuba in the United States today honored the memory of the 32 Cuban internationalist fighters who fell defending Venezuela and its president Nicolás Maduro.

Oscar Larralde, on behalf of his colleagues, condemned the attack on Venezuela and the kidnapping of the constitutional president Nicolás Maduro. He described these actions as an 'assault on the sovereignty of the peoples' and, in this regard, reiterated that 'in the face of this aggression, we reaffirm our solidarity with the Venezuelan people and its legitimate government.

' 'The blood of 32 Cubans,' he added, 'soaked the soil of Bolívar's Homeland as an example of the solidarity and brotherhood that unite our peoples.' 'Let us honor the memory of the fallen heroes,' Larralde emphasized, insisting that the example of 'those who gave everything in fulfilling their duty guides us.'

Cuba has been threatened, hawks are lurking -he added-, just remember, imperialist gentlemen, the thought of Major General of the Wars of Independence Antonio Maceo, the Bronze Titan, when he took a stand, a principle, against the Spanish metropolis at the time by warning that Cuba's independence would never be negotiable.

The official repeated the words of the brave Cuban warrior that “whoever tries to take over Cuba will only gather the dust of its soil soaked in blood if they do not perish in the fight.”

At the end, the group observed a minute of silence for those who died in the line of duty.
