Pretoria, 15 January 2026.- The Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba to South Africa, Fakri Rodríguez Pinelo, received Dr Naledi Pandor, a long-standing friend of Cuba, former South African Foreign Minister and current Chairperson of the Nelson Mandela Foundation.
During the cordial meeting, they discussed the current international context and the need to continue developing actions of solidarity with Cuba, Venezuela, Palestine and other progressive movements around the world, threatened by the Trump administration's negative manoeuvres and campaigns.
They also advocated for greater cooperation with the Foundation, with the aim of paying a well-deserved tribute to the leaders of both nations, Fidel and Mandela, especially in the context of the centenary of the Commander-in-Chief.
The Cuban ambassador was accompanied by mission officials Bryan Betancourt and Lauren Luis.
