The Attorney General's Office is overseeing the criminal proceedings initiated by the Specialized Criminal Investigation Unit for Crimes against State Security of the Ministry of the Interior to investigate the attempted infiltration of the national territory that occurred on the morning of February 25 in the northern part of Villa Clara province, with the aim of carrying out terrorist acts.
Six defendants have been charged with crimes of terrorism, as provided for in the Criminal Code. The Attorney General's Office ordered their detention with the precautionary measure of provisional imprisonment.
With respect for the rights and guarantees enshrined in the Constitution and the laws, the Attorney General's Office will ensure compliance with due process, and once the investigations are concluded, it will adopt the corresponding procedural decisions.
The Attorney General's Office will continue to act in accordance with its constitutional mandate, within the framework of the law, in defense of our people and the institutions of the country.
