Pretoria, 24 March 2026.—As part of the activities marking the centenary of our Commander-in-Chief, Fidel Castro Ruz, the Cuban Embassy together with the University of Pretoria, organized the seminar “Fidel and Mandela: The Legacy of Two Great Leaders”, held at the Javett Art Centre.
The event was attended by Dr Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma and Professor Blade Nzimande, who shared their personal experiences with the Commander-in-Chief. The speakers highlighted the special friendship between Fidel and Mandela, which resulted in the enduring strength of bilateral relations between Cuba and South Africa.
A fruitful academic exchange took place between students, lecturers, members of the diplomatic corps and Cuban collaborators, highlighting the spirit of solidarity and brotherhood between the two peoples.
